How Bain and its ilk make their money

For anyone interested in learning more about how private equity companies like Bain have been operating, read this article. Americans need to understand this because it's a factor in what's been going on. How do you fix things if you don't know why they are happening?

Don't you think it's interesting how these guys manage to blame government for all our problems while they are raking it in hand over fist by methods they have managed to make legal. Americans stay dumb and ready for the shearing until they start getting an education. We can thank Romney for at least one thing-- Americans might just be waking up. We can hope.

Business ALWAYS believes Government is problem... until they need a bail-out.

Sigh. I couldn't agree with you more.

I remember an old truism that says there has never been a fully free market--governments have always regulated the economy. The only difference is who reaps the benefits of the regulations. The New Yorker story illustrates that perfectly. It also perfectly illustrates another flaw inherent in our society for the last 30 to 50 years--that you can borrow infinitely because our economic conditions will always improve allowing us to pay our debts back easily or, as happened, borrow even more while paying a minimum back. Debt became synonymous with 'investment' and packaged debt became equivalent to wealth.
